A short hop by air or sea takes you to picturesque Fogo Island and neighbouring Change Islands. Fogo is the site of Brimstone Head, a majestic landmark officially declared by the Flat Earth Society as one of the four corners of the earth. The community of Change Islands clings to the shores of a narrow, sheltered tickle under a bridge which spans its two islands. Residents' rich fishing heritage continues in the descendants of its first inhabitants, some of whom still retain traces of their Elizabethan dialects.
